AmigaOS has continued to evolve beyond the original 68000-based platforms. The leap to PowerPC-based platforms began with AmigaOS 4.0. The Amiga's Application Programming Interface (API) has changed over time and so have various idioms and techniques. This article describes many of the API changes and demonstrates new idioms which are to be used when programming on a modern Amiga.
